Registration for the Leipzig Book Fair Now Open

New concept for the exhibition halls | Benefit from early-bird rates now

Starting today, you can register for the Leipzig Book Fair together with Manga Comic-Con and the "Leipzig liest" reading festival. After being forced to take a break due to COVID-19, this spring event for the book and media industries is returning with a new concept in the exhibition halls, fresh programme items and adjusted registration deadlines. You can find all the information you need at www.leipziger-buchmesse.de. The Leipzig Book Fair will take place from 27 to 30 April 2023.

"We want to celebrate the written word in Leipzig again at long last", says Book Fair Director Oliver Zille. "Our highest priority in 2023 is to once again stage a Leipzig Book Fair in our exhibition halls that will help authors and publishers gain much-needed visibility and enable readers to experience the amazing world of books in its entirety.

To ensure that visitors can easily find their way around the various themed areas while at the same time bringing together exhibitors with similar products and services, selected exhibitor groups have been relocated. The section for children and teenagers as well as the fantasy area have been moved to Hall 3 so that they are located closer to the neighbouring Manga Comic-Con in Hall 1. "By locating these two subject areas closer together, we can create a comprehensive presentation for our young visitors that covers the entire spectrum of literature and provides a targeted investment in the promotion of reading. Among other things, we are planning some brand-new workshop concepts and forms of presentation that deviate from the usual format for readings", explains Kerstin Krämer, Project Director for Education/Children+Youth/MCC and head of the Book Fair management team. Hall 2 will be the new home of those exhibitors previously located in Hall 3 and covers the categories of textbooks and science, fiction and non-fiction, book art and graphics, travel literature and audiobooks as well as education. Particularly for exhibitors of books on specialist subjects, this offers an ideal direct connection to the Congress Center Leipzig, where numerous trade events will be taking place. The exhibitor categories in Halls 4 and 5 will remain as before. In Hall 4, visitors will find books on international topics, music and religion. Hall 5 is devoted to books on art, other products apart from books, services for publishers and bookshops as well as autoren@leipzig. Fiction and non-fiction, media, newspapers and magazines will be presented in various themed areas in Halls 2 and 4 as well as the more compact Hall 5.

New programme formats & direct book sales

During the pandemic, visibility for authors and their work was severely reduced. To combat this, Leipzig Book Fair will be implementing new and innovative concepts that are designed to place a targeted focus on specific themes. Alongside the new selection of themes, proven presentation formats are also planned. Book sales will be adapted to perfectly match visitors' needs and complement the experience of meeting other guests and authors in person. As already planned before the pandemic, visitors will be able to purchase their new discoveries and favourite books both at the on-site Hugendubel bookshop and directly from exhibitors at the stands.

Early-bird rates until 30 September 2022

Registration for the Leipzig Book Fair is now open. It is worth registering early. If you book before 30 September 2022, you will receive 10 per cent discount on your stand rental fees. To ensure we know how many exhibitors to expect when we plan the Leipzig Book Fair, we have set a registration deadline of 15 November 2022. After that, you will only be able to register under different terms. All exhibitors can also apply for additional funding from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media (BKM) as part of the "Neustart Kultur" economic stimulus package. Details will be sent soon. Registration for "Leipzig liest" opens on 1 November and ends as usual on 30 November 2022. Location details will be sent out in mid-February.
